2007 - Boy Were You Awesome!

Time: 2:00pm
Mood: Happy!
Song of the moment: Natasha Bedingfield feat. Sean Kingston - Love Like This

Alright boys and girls - another year has (almost) come and gone and it's time for my look back at 2007.

This has definitely been the biggest and happiest year of my life :D I have absolutely nothing bad to say about 2007. I became a home owner (and now I'm poor - ok I guess that's the bad part of 2007 LoL) and I got to see the other side of the world in a different hemisphere (New Zealand) - couldn't tell whether the water drained clockwise or counter-clockwise... it drained so fast! I also did something I said I would never do - skydive!

But the biggest thing by far that happened this year is that I finally married the love of my life, Jimmy :D Nothing can be sweeter than that :D

This year I learned that there is a happily ever after, sometimes bumming at home is a good thing, driving on the other side of the road can be fun, and that I never want to be the type that puts work before family.

Saying goodbye to 2007 is a little sad, but I'm definitely looking forward to 2008. Cheers to 2007, a fabulous year indeed! :)

Hello, Mr. Snow!

Time: 9:50pm
Mood: Hungry (I'm eating cereal!)
Song of the moment: Timbaland feat. OneRepublic - Apologize

Sunday night, we experienced a wicked snowstorm that left a boatload of snow everywhere. Jimmy must have went out to shovel 4 times, and my rental car got stuck in the snow b/c the snowplow didn't plow my street (I'm not too happy about that).

As I mentioned before, I had a rental car this weekend. Last week I was in Detroit from Sunday night until Friday night, so I got to keep the rental car for 2 whole weekends. That means my car was left at my work parking lot. Anyway, because there was a huge snowstorm, my car got burried in snow.. and the snowplow came to clear the parking lot and it plowed around my car, so my car was blocked in with piles of snow.

This is what it looked like when I came to work Monday morning:

Took me 20 minutes clean it off and dig it out with my tiny snow shovel. LoL

My Breaking Point

Time: 11:17pm
Mood: Sad...
Song of the moment: Foo Fighters - Long Road To Ruin

I experienced a breaking point last friday about this whole travelling business. In the morning, I was told I was to stay in Detroit until Friday - which was ok because we have a deadline to meet. But later that afternoon I get a call from my coworker, asking if I could come in Sunday night, so I can be at the design house bright and early to support our designers. I really have no excuse to say no - so I agreed. I called Jimmy right after to tell him, and just the disappointment in his voice when I told him I was going to be gone for 5 nights really hit me hard. I got really really upset.

We've spent most of our marriage apart. This really truely sucks. I feel like I'm sad all the time because I'm always away from home. Not only do I not get to see my hubby, I'm usually too tired to even go out to see friends. I havn't gone out to see a movie in 4 months! And usually when I do have time to go out, I just want to stay home. I don't think my friends understand that I need time to be home because I'm never home.

*sigh*. I'm sad.....

I Love You Pau Pau

Time: 11:40pm
Mood: Sad
Song of the moment: Jimmy Eat World - Big Casino

Today is the 2 year anniversary of my Pau Pau's passing. And I do miss her. I'm feeling sad today not only because I'm remembering my grandmother, but I found out that my Gung Gung (my grandfather) has dying of lung cancer. When I first heard the news I was wondering why it wasn't hitting me as hard as when I found out my grandmother was sick. I mean... my Gung Gung is my favorite person. When he has a stroke a few years ago I was devestated. It was hard for me to accept the fact that my Gung Gung was no longer the same person he was before. I think the reason why it didn't hit me as hard is b/c I've been preparing myself for a very long time. When I saw him two years ago, it was like I was seeing a completely different person. I've had time to accept the fact that he's sick, he's frail, and he can leave at any time.

The one person I feel for is my mom. Loosing her mom 2 years ago, and the potential of loosing her dad at any time is... I can't even begin to imagine what she is going through. All I can do is be there for her....

I love you Pau Pau..... and I miss you.....

I Should Be Paid More For This...

Time: 11:43pm
Mood: Sleepy (almost bedtime!)
Song of the moment: Alicia Keys - No One

My coworkers and I were talking about this today:
http://us.cnn.com/2007/US/11/18/dangerous.cities.ap/index.html

According to this article, Detroit, Michigan is America's most dangerous city. Makes me feel safe coming down here every week! *yay*!

My coworkers and I should be getting hazard pay this!

The Dirtiest Thing In A Hotel Room

Time: 11:08pm
Mood: Sleepy
Song of the moment: Darren Hayes - Lucky Town

Another day, another week in Detroit. Seems like these weekly trips to D-town is going to be never ending. I just wish I could stay home for a full week.. just once!

I've spend the entire night in my hotel room. The moment I got off work, I headed straight to my hotel room and ordered room service. Room service always tastes better when you're not paying for it :D Actually, everything is more enjoyable when you're not paying for it! LoL! So because I've been in my room all night, I've had a lot of time to think. I think I've pin-pointed the dirtiest thing in the hotel room. Not the floor (b/c I'm guessing that gets cleaned/vacuumed every so often), or the bathroom walls (those get cleaned too). I realized the one thing that everyone uses that probably never gets cleaned is... drumroll..... the tv remote control! Honestly, when is the last time you've cleaned your remote? God knows what people have touched before touching the remote.. *shiver*

After realizing this, I quickly wraped the remote in a towel.

So gross!!

More Wasabi Please

Time: 9:39pm
Mood: Tired
Song of the moment: Foo Fighters - The Pretender

Here I am again, in Detroit. The fun never ends. I already want to go home! This is surely an indication this is going to be a long week.

So I went out with my co-workers for dinner tonight - felt like Japanese so we headed to Benihanas. Not the best Japanese food but it satisfied the craving. As I was eating the mediocore sushi I realized I eat my sushi with a lot of wasabi. Well, a lot more wasabi than I used to eat it with. And it made me realize how much I've changed. It's funny how sometimes you think you havn't change, that you're the same person as you were a few years ago. In most cases, these minor changes in our live goes unnoticed. But they do add up.

Despite all these changes, I also realize my principles have remained the same. And I see this through the friends that I've kept in touch with. Most of my closest friends that I hang out with on a semi-regular basis are all from highschool. Heck, the love of my life is one of my highschool friends. We usually stick with friends that have similar morals and principles - it's who we get along with best. The fact that I still have friends from my childhood speaks volumes.

Makes me feel that even though we are getting older, even though we've been somewhat jaded by our experiences in life, we still have that spark we all had in highschool. And to not lose that - that's the true gift of youth.

I hope I feel this way forever :)

Excuse Me, What Do You Think You're Doing?

Time: 4:30pm
Mood: Relaxed
Song of the moment: Darren Hayes - Happy Town

I've spent this entire Saturday at home. Not that I'm complaining. I was supposed to go to Diana's convo today in Waterloo, but we were notified last night we were getting our bedroom furniture delivered (did I mention we bought a bedroom set? LoL). So I decided to stay back and wait.

After the delivery guys came, I thought I would get some housewife-like chores out of the way. Suddenly my doorbell rings. Reluctantly, I opened the door, knowing fully well it was a salesperson that was most likely going to be selling me something. And sure enough it was. Some guy was at the door trying to sell me a hydro/gas flat rate. Wow, you know you're a home owner when... LoL. So anyway, I told him I already signed up for a flat rate, and I was not interested. But he wanted me to prove that I already had one and asked if he could see my bill. So to humor him, I grabbed an old bill and showed it to him. He told me there was no indication on my bill that I was on a flat rate, yadda yadda yadda.. then he whips out this form and starts to "sign me up". Woah.... hold on there buddy! So I ask him "Excuse me... what do you think you're doing? Are you signing me up without my consent?" Just because my bill does not show a fixed rate, doesn't mean I'm interested. Then he tries to pull his sales pitch one me, but I'm a smart cookie and I'm not buying it. It just sounded like I was going to end up paying more in the long run. I finally managed to get rid of him, I quickly run upstairs and found my fixed-rate contract I had signed up for when I first moved in. That retard was offering me a higher fixed rate than what I had originally signed up for, AND he was going to just sign me up!

I hate pushy sales people :P If they're pushy, it means it's not a good deal.

A Relaxing Night In

Time: 7:41pm
Mood: Happy (and tired)
Song of the moment: Darren Hayes - The Only One

Finally, a night of nothingness - exactly what I needed! Here I am, sitting at home in front of the tv, our faux fireplace is lit up, my legs propped up on my new coffee table (we bought them a month ago.... they finally came in!) and watching the Leaf's game with my hubby. This is definitely nice :D Domestic bliss! This is one of the rare opportunities I get to do this. I've been travelling to Detroit almost every week. The travelling is definitely taking it's toll on me. All the errands I would have run over the week, I have to do them all during the weekend, so my weekends are pretty busy. My friend Jenn recently told me that currently I was the busiest person she knows. :/ that doesn't sound good. It doesn't help I also took a tutoring job on Saturdays, leaving me less time to do everything. I've hardly had time to go shopping for furniture. I managed to squeeze in the furniture shopping last Sunday and we bought a new dining room table! *yay* I can't wait til it comes in - our house is looking more like a home every day :)
Last weekend was the Thanksgiving long weekend, so the timecard was filled with family dinners. Jimmy and I got to celebrate our first Thanksgiving together in a hospital. Yup you heard me.. in a hospital. Right before we went furniture shopping on Sunday, we stopped for a quick bite at a McDonalds. I had a chicken burger, and he had a quarter pounder. This was the only thing we ate different that day. Right after dinner, I began getting sharp stomach pains... and it got worse as the night progressed. I've never thrown up so much before in my life, I couldn't even hold down water! It was horrible! So around midnight Jimmy decides to take me to the hospital. We waited....and waited... and waited.. around 5:30am I finally get to see a doctor, and she tells me to take Gravol. *grrr* you mean I wanted 5 1/2 hours so some doctor could tell me to take Gravol?!?! And by that time I was already feeling better. I wasn't impressed. And now I'm completely turned off by eating McD's.. won't be eating that for a while!
Ok this is definitely long overdue: here are just a few pics from the wedding & from the honeymoon:

It's Been A While...

Time: 11:36pm
Mood: Sicky
Song of the moment: for once I don't have one! *shock*

It's been a while since I last updated this blog. I'm not sure why.. possibly because I'm lazy? Or I just had too much to do. Believe it or not, I was actually really busy after the wedding. It was non-stop for me. The moment I got back from my honeymoon (don't worry, I'll get to that!), I started work. The weekend after I got back was Rita's wedding (again, get to that in a minute...), then the following monday I was whisked away to Detroit for work. Last weekend was the first weekend I got to do absolutely nothing - and it felt great!!

So the honeymoon! NZ was awesome! It was winter, and it was a bit rainy, but Jimmy and I had a lot of fun. Driving on the other side of the road was definitely different! I can't count the number of times Jimmy yelled "hug the right side!!!" haha! We did some hiking, some chilling and some zorbing! We decided to go together and it was hilarous! We did the hydro-zorb - that's where they put warm water into the ball w/ you, so you end up sloshing down in this ball filled with water. I ended up just sitting in the pool of water all the way down :S Jimmy tried to get up, but because I was at the bottom, he ended up tripping on me and kneeing me in the chest! haha! But the best thing we did on the trip was skydiving. Yes.. skydiving! We were in Taupo, deemed the skydiving capital of the world because of the large number of people that go skydiving at that location annually. We did a tandum skydive, where we jumped with an experienced jumper. It's strange.. I told myself I would never skydive, but I knew if I didn't go, Jimmy wouldn't go, and I knew Jimmy really wanted to go. So, to show him how much I loved him, I faced my fear and decided to jump. We jumped from 12,000 ft, which meant 45 seconds of free fall. Let me tell you - it was the most amazing feeling ever! The first two seconds I felt my stomach flop like it's never flopped before. It was like riding a roller coaster, but 10x worse! After that, all you feel is the cold wind on your face. Floating down was amazing! The sun was just setting, and the ariel view of Lake Taupo was spectacular. I was talking to my skydive partner, and he told me out of all the places he's skydived before (and it's a long list!), he said the best place was Taupo. Now would I do this again? hell no! I survived once - that's good enough!

Rita's wedding was great! It took place at a B&B in Coboconk, a town 1 1/2h northeast of Toronto. It was the perfect setting - the wedding ceremeony took place overlooking a lake. Rita walked down an aisle of rose petals. And the weather was nice and sunny... it was such a great day! It was good.. the wedding party + significant others got to stay in the cottages beside the inn (I got to stay in the Inn on the second night), so we all got to bond before and after the ceremony. That night after the BBQ reception, we all gathered for a small little firework show (courtesy of moi! hehe) and a bonfire. I got kinda tipsy that night - I blame Kathy's bf Charles for challenging me to a chugging contest! LoL! I remember giving my little cousin love advice! haha!

I better sleep... I'm in Detroit right now.. gotta wake up early for work. Thank God I'm going home to my hubby tomorrow :D I still gotta post photos huh? I will do that when I get home :D

Can you believe Jimmy and I have been married for a month now? wow!

I'm a Mrs.!

Time: 1:37pm
Mood: Happy x infinity!
Song of the moment: Darren Hayes - On The Verge of Something Wonderful

Ahhh I'm married! I can't believe it!

The day couldn't have gone more perfect. Everything was on time (actually a bit early!), and there wasn't any rain, even though the weather report predicted rain :) I couldn't have been more happier! The day just flew by. I woke up a 4:30am to have my hair and make-up done, then in a blink of an eye I was on the dance floor having the last dance with my new hubby. I'm actually surprised I didn't yawn until 12:30am! haha! I got many compliments about my photographer, the banquet hall, the food, the music, and most of all, my choice in MCs - Jack & Nancy. They kept the energy going and everyone had a lot of fun! Just hearing those comments made me realize it was well woth all the stress and headaches I had to go through to plan this wedding.

I personally had a blast :) Thanks to all those who helped us make our wedding day a complete success!

And for those of you who are wondering - Jimmy did tear when I walked down the aisle :) hehhe :D

Off to NZ we go! I'll post pics of the wedding and the honeymoon when I return :D

Last Post As A Single Gal

Time: 9:28pm
Mood: Nervous as heck
Song of the moment: Rihanna - Shut Up And Drive

So my last post as a single gal... I can't believe my wedding day is tomorrow! Most of you might think I'm excited, but I'm not - I'm more nervous than anything. I'm not nervous about marrying the man of my dreams... I am most certain I am marrying the right guy for me. I'm just nervous about the how the day is going to run. A year and a half of planning, and it comes down to this one day. One... single... day.

I went to the spa with Rita today. We've talked about going to the spa when one of us got married for as long as I can remember. It was hard to believe the day that we've talked about for so long was finally here. I can't believe we're all grown up, ready to marry the men we were meant to be with for the rest of our lives (Rita's getting married in 3 weeks).

Wow... so this is it. I'm as ready as I will ever be. All the "t"s are crossed, and all the "i"s are dotted - all I can do is sit back and try to enjoy the day. I still have to complete my thankyou speech. The only part I'm missing is what I am going to say to Jimmy. How do you tell someone they're your heart and soul... and that you love spending every minute with him, and that you can wait to spend the rest of your life with him? I guess it's just as simple as saying those words.

I hope it doesn't rain.... :D

A Mini-Post

23 days until my wedding - I am definitely on the verge of something wonderful. How suiting it is Darren Hayes' single off his upcoming album. A lot has happened since I last blogged.. I will update soon (perhaps this weekend when Jimmy heads off to Montreal for his bachelor party.. boourns! haha)

Home Sweet Home

Time: 12:54pm
Mood: Hungry..I should eat lunch eh?
Song of the moment: The White Stripes - Icky Thump

It's been almost a month since Jimmy and I moved into our new house, and I'm starting to say, it's beginning to feel like home :) We have our kitchen table and our couches came in last Monday, so we have two fully functional rooms :) I just need a coffee and end table for the family room. The couches look fabulous! I love them! Beats sitting on lawn chairs! Trust me - attempting to sprall on lawn chairs - not fun!! We're still spending crazy money every weekend though... although this weekend has been pretty tame :)

Last week we bought our nice queen sized mattress :D We picked it up yesterday - strapped it on top of the van. That was quite the adventure! Jimmy and I had no idea how to tie a mattress onto a van, but we managed to do it! I drove behind it to make sure it didn't fall off, and if it did, I wanted to make sure other drivers wouldn't run into it. I was watching it wobble and shake every time Jimmy hit a bump.. that was nerve racking! Boy was I glad when we made it home safe and sound! LoL

Last night I finally got around to watching a movie! I havn't seen a movie in ages.. or what seems to be ages ago. Jimmy, Jenn and I went out to see "Knocked Up". Very funny movie, but damn am I ever scared to have kids. Doesn't look like a great experience. After the movie, I asked Jimmy if we could adopt! hahaha! All I know is, I'm gonna be asking for the drugs!

Social Butterfly

Time: 10:47pm
Mood: Sleepy...
Song of the moment: Peter, Bjorn & John - Young Folks

My friend Hector (from my Mac days) was in town this week, and he finally called me to go out today :) I havn't seen this guy since I left Mac, and he moved out to Calgary for work, so it was great to see him again. We decided to meet at Second Cup in the Yonge and Sheppard area (a mid-point for the both of us). While I was waiting on the street corner for him to show up, I see this guy walking across the street that looked an awful lot like Tom, Jimmy's best friend (and his Best Man). As he approached I realized it was him! haha! Small world! Apparently he just got out of a job interview. So we chatted a bit, then he went on his way...

Finally Hector and his friend Carlos show up :) It was so great seeing him again.. we talked about all the fun times we had up in our office (all the pratical jokes we played, and the fights w/ dragonboat paddles, tennis/squash/badminton raquets we had... LoL fun times!). While I was talking to him, I hear someone call my name - it was my old classmate Jamey! Small world indeed! LoL I felt so popular! hahah! What are the odds of meeting these ppl from different parts of my life in this one little street corner?

My "Pretty Woman" Moment

Time: 9:24pm
Mood: Happy
Song of the moment: The Arcade Fire - Keep The Car Running

Jimmy and I finally have our first piece of bought furniture - a kitchen table. Purchasing this table was the cause of my "Pretty Woman" moment. Before you start assuming I whored myself to a rich guy for the table (my co-workers thought that was the reason why... I should have known that was going to happen b/c they're GUYS, and only GIRLS would remember this particular scene, as it is usually their favorite moment of the movie):

So I went to Leons Monday afternoon and saw a kitchen table I liked, but I didn't like the shape of the glass top (it was square, i wanted round). So the sales guy said he could sell me the round glass top from another set b/c on the tag of the other table the glass top was a separate item on the inventory list. What I had to do was buy the set I wanted in full, then pay extra for the glass.

After work, I took Jimmy to a different Leons, talked to the sales guy about what I wanted to do...and he said no, he couldn't' do that.. and that he's been working there for 7 years and he's never done something like that before.. blah blah blah. So I told him about this other Leons store that offered this to do this for me.. he went to talk to his manager about it. He came back and said his manager said no.. and that he tried really hard to convince his manager. When I told him I was going back to the other store.. he says "go ahead.. but u can't do it" .. cocky SOB!

I went back to the first Leons store yesterday, and I ended up getting the table w/ the extra glass top, but I had to go pick it up at the store I went to w/ Jimmy the night before. When I got there, I saw the sales guy that helped me... so I said "hi.. remember me? I wanted that kitchen table w/ the separate glass top.. you said I couldn't get it.. guess what?" and I waved my receipt at him. LoL! Then.. that retard had the nerve to say "oh, so why didn't you talk to the manager?" *grr* I said "well, you told me you went in to talk to the manager, and that you tried really hard and you still couldn't convince him"

You work on commission right? Big mistake... big mistake!!

Moving In

Time: 11:11am
Mood: Exhausted
Song of the moment: Take That - Patience

This past month has been absolutely mad - and it's all because of the house! We finally have possession of the house... Jimmy and I are homeowners! Exciting but scary - and extremely expensive! We throw down at least $1K a week just buying stuff for the house. We moved in this weekend, but we have no furniture - just my old bed, the tv and our appliances. We don't have a kitchen table yet :S We bought a couch 2 weeks ago, but it's not coming for another two weeks. We've been sitting on those fold-out lawn chairs for now! haha!

I love the house! But I'm still not completely comfortable here. I think that will take a while. All my stuff is still in boxes and I have no idea where to put my stuff in an organized manner. Yesterday was move-in day, and it was absolutely exhausting. I spent most of my day driving around and buying stuff we need for the house - garbage bins, step ladders, paper blinds, vacuum cleaner (which I absolutely love! I spurged and bought a Dyson vac! I remember my coworker talking about it... when I got to Sears, the sales lady told me it was one of the best vacuums you can get). We've had a few visitors over the past few days and I've been having fun giving house tours :) Flo has already claimed her room! LoL :)

I've been doing so much cleaning. It's so hard keeping a house clean in a dusty area. My area is still a construction site, and we don't have our grass yet. The clean-freak in me has definitely ben on full force - I won't stop until the bottoms of my socks stay white! haha! Thank God for Swiffer!

Anyway... back to cleaning... I'll take some pics once the couches come in :)

Missing In Blogger Action

Time: 7:27pm
Mood: Exhausted (lack of sleep + crazy work day)
Song of the moment: Silversun Pickups - Common Reactor

Ok I've been MIA in terms of blogging, but I feel I have some legitimate reasons:

1) Facebook
This is pure evil in internet form. Log-in page might look plain but don't let that fool you! I signed up one night after Jimmy had left my house, just to see what the buzz was all about. That curiosity turned into a full blown addiction. It's died down, but reconnecting with old friend is, believe it or not, extremely fun! I found people I havn't talked to or seen in ages! I even found this girl that lives on my street that I used to be friends with! It's grea because I will have a chance to see some of these people again at my highschool reunion this coming Saturday :)

2) Nintendo Wii
Flo and I found out they were selling 20 Wii's at Toys R Us 2 Saturday's ago. I had told Flo about my first fail attempt. After hearing that, she managed to convince me to pull an all-nighter to get our hands on the hard-to-get game console. After working a full 9 hours at work, and a failed attempt to take a nap, Flo and I headed over to TRU at 12:30am. We were the first ones there. I felt crazy. LoL! But surprisingly it was alright! Around 1:30am the manager at TRU came out and told us to make a list of people lining up - that way when #21 came along we could just tell them to just go home. By 2:00am there were 7 of us in line. At this point we were all sitting outside, with our lawn chairs and sleeping bags to keep warm. It was a frigid cold night :S This really nice guy in line had brought his DVD player, and we ended up watching "Little Miss Sunshine" out in the cold. Made the time pass by really quickly :) At around 7:00am, the manager came out to hand out purchase tickets - Flo and I were #1 and #2!! hehe! We still had to wait until 9:30am to get our Wii's though... but it was so worth it!

By the time we got our Wii's and got home, we were both up for 28hrs straight. I'm getting too old for this! haha! Oh the Wii's so fun!! I *heart* the Wii!

3) Wedding Invitations
I'm getting ready to send some of them out, so I've been busy writing people's name on the invite. I wanted to handwrite the names, but my handwriting looks like chicken scratch, so block letters it is! I don't care if it doens't look fancy... I would much rather have the guest be able to read their names on the invite! haha :)

*update on the house*
21 more days until it closes :D Here's a picture from the inside! Ahh I love my dark staircase

Seeing Things in 42"

Time: 11:15pm
Mood: Grumpy... I'm hungry!
Song of the moment: Nelly Furtado - All Good Things (Come To An End)

I had quite the eventful weekend :)

Saturday morning I decided to kick my ass into gear and head to the gym. I told myself to take it easy because usually when I work out in the mornings, I end up feeling dead-ass tired around 8pm, and that evening I had lots of fun events planned. It was Jenn's birthday this past Saturday, so I took her out for lunch, in which she thanked me by inviting me over to her house for some jello shooters :) hehe!

I met Jimmy @ Fairview for dinner, then TTC-ed it downtown to catch the Leafs vs. the Buffalo Sabres game at the ACC :) It was Jimmy's first regular season game. As you recall, I took Jimmy to a Leafs game late last year, but that turned out to be an exhibition game (dammit!). We got standing room only seats, but they were still awesome. It was even more awesome b/c they kicked Buffalo's ass! 4-1 baby!! Thank God they did... after suffering the embarrassing loss to them the night before (I know all Leaf fans hung their heads in shame after they blew that lead! eeks!)

After the game, we headed back uptown, joined Jenn and Saloni for more Jenn-birthday fun :D We did a series of BJ shots (sucks! traditionally the person celebrating their birthday is the only one that should be doing this shot, but Jimmy bought one for all of us.. and we had to embarrass ourselves by shooting it the proper way too! LoL). I really hope Jenn had a fun birthday :)

The next day, Jimmy and I headed over to Future Shop, where we proceeded to put one out of many dents on our bank accounts - we bought a 42" plasma TV!! Yipee!!! We went in to buy a Panasonic TV, came out buying the Samsung. The Samsung was a better deal because it came with a better entertainment system. Oh it's so great!! :D We spent a buttload on top of that though.. after paying for an entertainment stand and a bunch of fancy-shmancy cables, we ended up spending $3200 :S I guess this is just getting us ready for the true dive - when our house closes (which is 1 month and 1 week away! yay!)

*yawn* alright.. time for bed (no time to eat!)

Kiwi-Bound

Time: 10:55 pm
Mood: Happy!
Song of the moment: Hellogoodbye - Oh, It Is Love

Jimmy and I finally booked our honeymoon! We're going to New Zealand! We actually booked our plane tickets 2 weeks ago and I forgot to blog about it! We're spending 10 fun-filled days driving around the northern island (we were going to drive around the south too, but we decided today we want to take it easy and not rush through our trip). I'm so excited! We were orginally planning to go to Fiji, but then the thought of sitting on a beach for 10 days didn't appeal to me. I can sit on a beach when I'm 60 years old. So we were thinking of doing half in Fiji, half in NZ, since we had a stop-over in Auckland anyway. But after researching NZ, we realized there were a ton of things to do and see there, and that 5 days wouldn't be enough. Plus.. Fiji's expensive! So the day we booked the tickets we agreed that NZ it is! We realize it's going to be winter there and it's going to be pretty cold, but that's alright :)

I can't believe it's almost 4 months until the wedding! That means 4 months until I got on vacation! I'm looking forward to it... I need a vacation!

1 month & 1 week until the house closes! Jimmy and I have started the whole mortgage approval process right now - getting ready to move into the house! We went last weekend and they had the kitchen cabinets in! It looks great! I can't wait to move in!!

No Wii For Me

Time: 9:16am
Mood: Disappointed
Song of the moment: Hellogoodbye - Here In Your Arms

Agh!! So I'm planning to get Jimmy a Wii for his wedding present from me. I heard Toys R Us was selling Wii's this morning... they had 20 per store. So I got up at 6:15am to make it to TRU at 7:00am to line up. Kathy came with me to keep me company (what a great sister I have!). I even had to LIE to Jimmy, telling him Kathy and I were heading to the gym. LoL! Who the hell goes to the gym at 6:30am? haha! Anyway, we get there and the line-up already contains 100 ppl. wtf?!?! Kathy asked the guy at the front of the line.. he said he was there since 1am! Holy geez.. he stood outside, in the freezing cold, during a snow storm, for a Wii. Ok I don't want one that badly...

We ended up heading to the TRU @ Markville, and again, a long line up! *grr*

Mission failed :(

Unusual Thursday

Time: 10:30pm
Mood: Tired (went to the gym tonite!)
Song of the moment: Hellogoodbye - Here In Your Arms

I'm finally kicking my ass into gear and have returned back to my regular/irregular gym routine - irregular because I try to go at least twice a week, and a third if I feel like it. I started to sense myself getting a little chubby on the cheeks (my face.. not my ass). Unfortunately for me, when I gain weight, it's all in the face. Not the ass, not the thighs, but the face. I can hide the ass & thigh fat, but not the face fat! LoL! You know it's bad when even your mother, someone that sees you every day, notices your face plumping up. *sigh* I may have a fat face, but at least I have full confidence I will fit into my dress! haha!

So today was a bit unusual for me. It all started in the morning, when I woke up to my alarm clock. I was dreaming I was auditioning for Canadian Idol (I have the most hilarous dreams!) and they were totally bashing me when my radio alarm went off. It was a brief summary of news stories. At the end of his broadcast, the radio announcer said "these an other news, starting at 7:30". I only heard 7:30 and though SHIT I'M LATE! I jump out of bed, look at my alarm clock and realize it's only 7:00am. I jumped back into bed and pressed snooze.

That must have thrown me off. I get into work at around 8:15... I open the back seat door to my car to grab my laptop and there is no laptop. I had left it at home. Fan-frickin-tastic! I ended up heading home around 10am to get my laptop. It sucks how we've become so dependent on computers and email. Whenever email goes down in my company (which is quite often), it's like the end of the world or something. I see it as a well-deserved break - it's a legit excuse to stop working! :)

I met up with Steve for lunch today. Steve is an old Waterloo friend of mines. We lived in the same building during our 1A term there and is the only person I have kept in touch with from tha house. It's funny how we started talking - it was during midterms, and he needed some old Chem midterm exams, which I happed to have :) I don't talk to Steve on a regular basis, but he manages to always call me out whenever he's in town. I love that about him - friends like this are really hard to find :) Anyway, I was supposed to meet him for lunch yesterday, but he forgot and stood me up! haha! It's all good :) So we agreed to meet today. It was nice to catch up with an old friend. I gave him an invite to my wedding (the first one!! I'm not supposed to be handing them out until the end of April/early May, but I rarely see Steve). I hope he comes :)

Here's to hoping tomorrow is not as unusual as today....

On another note - Congrats to Neilynne and Jay for getting engaged! I'm so happy for you both! And also to Char and Sherman on expecting a new bundle of joy! Definitely makes March a great month :)

Straight Shooter

Time: 10:52pm
Mood: Tired
Song of the moment: Silversun Pickups - Lazy Eye

Today I did it... I used "the gun"! Jimmy and I went downtown to start our wedding gift registry, and it was fun using the gun, but it was equally frustrating on deciding what to put on the registry.

We're only making this registry for our friends. As I was told firmly by some friends, they find it offensive and uncomfortable to give a monetary gift as opposed to a materialistic item - this way the person will know how much you've spent on them. I honestly prefer money as a gift to help me pay for my honeymoon and paying the wedding bill. Actually, I really don't care if I get a gift or not - I am not having a wedding to get gifts, I'm having a wedding to get married, and I am inviting people that I want there to celebrate a wonderful milestone in my and Jimmy's life.

I've heard some rumors that the place we decided to do the registry through tends to take a while to get the gifts to wedding couples - sometimes as far as 3 months after the wedding. Many things that people normally register for are basically things for the house. Our issue is this: Jimmy and I are planning to move into our house in May. Some things that I would normally put on a registry, I will have to buy anyway when I move in. Things like towels, cutlery, bedding, plates, glasses, pots/pans, etc. are things I cannot wait until 3 months after the wedding to get. My friend suggested a toaster - I'm not going to wait 5 months to eat toast! I did manage to put things on the registry, but we could only think of big-ticket items (like a Kitchen-Aide mixer - gotta have one of those!!). I felt guilty for putting these items on the registry though.

Another issue was deciding on colours to get for items that were colour specific, such as towels, table cloths, placemats, etc, because I obviously want it to match my home decor, but I still don't know how I'm going to decorate the house. I don't want all these things in the wrong colour! *sigh* so you can see why it was frustrating.

But like I said, it was fun! Here's me packing heat :)

And as for a house update - they've put the tile in! On the floors and in the bathroom! And we got a garage door! It's so close to completion.... I can't wait!!

The One You're Meant To Be With

Time: 3:22pm
Mood: sore (damn gym!)
Song of the moment: Silversun Pickups - Lazy Eye

Planning the wedding has officially taken over my life. 5 months to go and I'm in a frenzy trying to get everything done. I can no longer use the phrase "Oh, I have time!". This weekend alone, I had an appointment to get measured for my Chinese dress, and tomorrow Jimmy and I are heading to The Bay to put items on our registry. I'm actually quite excited about that one - I'll get to use the infamous gun :)

Since a coworker of mines is also getting married this year (actually in my department alone, 4 out of 9 of us are getting married this year), we talk about wedding stuff sometimes. So one day I asked him if he was getting nervous about getting married. Another coworker (an anti-marriage prick) overheard the question, and proceeded to ask him if he was nervous he wasn't marrying the right woman. Then he continued to pipe in, telling us reasons why he's not getting married and how people are not supposed to spend forever with each other, yadda yadda yadda. So I proceeded to tell him this (in a joking tone, but I was serious!): The person you will marry, that you're meant to be with, is essentially the person you can tolerate the most. If you think about it, it's true. I'm not going to be with someone that annoys the shit out of me - that just makes no sense. With saying that, I told him, there is no right women in hell that would be able to tolerate him, therefore even if he wanted to get married, he probably wouldn't - so in his eyes, he wins! Sure enough, that shut him up, and I continued my conversation with my coworker.

Hahah I know.. I can be such a bitch! :)

Happy Valentines!

Time: 10:44pm
Mood: Tired (sugar crash)
Song of the moment: Muse - Starlight

Happy Valentine's day everyone! And a very happy birthday to my dog Pepper :) He's 9 years old now (I guess it makes him 63 dog years old now.. oh my doggie's a senior! haha).

I gave Jimmy his gift today - it was his v-day/birthday present (his birthday is tomorrow.. he's turning 28! oh my hunny's old! haha! But I still love him to bits!). I bought him a set of cufflinks from Tiffany's (they were bloody expensive but they're sooo nice!!). Just something special he can wear on our wedding day :)

I finally got the dress I bought off ebay! Yippee!! I love it! But my mom thinks it's a bit too plain for a reception dress. Meh.. I like simple and plain :) I think it's the material that's a little off - it's linen. Maybe it would have looked a bit more reception-dress-like if it was made of satin or something. Hm... if it was made of satin it might end up looking like a slip or something. Ok scratch that! haha! I love it, and I'm going to wear it! :D

Ok I'm Officially Obsessed

Time: 10:28pm
Mood: Stressed!!
Song of the moment: Foo Fighters - Best Of You

This song has been in my head since I heard Prince play a cover of it during the Superbowl halftime show. I know... me watching football - hell has officially froze over! LoL

So I've been a little bit stressed lately. It's been partially because of work (I've been getting crazy busy lately), but mostly the wedding stuff. It all started when my parents came back from Morocco. My mom began to ask me about stuff I havn't even thought of yet, or stuff I was planning to think of later on. I want to focus on invitations now. I hope to get the draft to the printers by this weekend. Ahh! I just got to remember to breathe...

So it's official.... I'm an ebay addict! I've bought a total of 4 items over ebay so far - the most recent one was last night - I bought a dress for my wedding reception. The dress is 4 sizes too big for me, but it can be altered! Those seamstresses are geniuses! But it's such a pretty dress.. and I only paid $104CND for it (includes shipping!). It's retail for $425USD, so I got a deal! I'm so excited! Here are so pictures of my soon-to-be new dress:

So as it stands, I've received 1 ebay purchase, and waiting on 3. I'm getting a little nervous about 2 of the items I had ordered... I ordered them the same time as the item I got already. Hm.. still playing the waiting game...

House update: we got drywall up!! It looks like an actual house now! Pictures to follow! I'm so excited!

Genetically Made To Shop

Time: 12:34pm
Mood: Mentally exhausted
Song of the moment: The Killers - This River Is Wild

I've been feeling mentally exhausted over the past couple of days - and it's all because I've spent so much time driving, and working overtime.

I had to head to Detroit on Tuesday so I got a rental on Monday evening. Monday night, I had to drive to the airport to pick up my parents (freedom ends! haha). The very next morning at around 6:30am I headed out to Detroit. The plan was, I would drive to Detroit, meet my sister for dinner on the way back, then crash @ Laura's in Hamilton (Art's father passed away this past weekend and the funeral was on Wed. morning. The Mac gang wanted to attend the funeral to show our support for Art). As I reached Cambridge, I realized I had forgotten my laptop bag that contained not only my dayplanner w/ the customer's phone number, but documents that I was supposed to submit to the customer. *grr*! So that foiled my plans of staying over in Hamilton (I had to report at work by 1pm - there was no way I could drive from Hamtown back home to pick up my laptop, then drive to work).

I got to Detroit 1 1/2 hours early, so I decided to walk around the mall. Big mistake. I ended up buying stuff from VS, Bath and Body works, and a pair of black dressy shoes from DSW. Oh boy! haha! The mall is a dangerous place! I had my meetings and they ended early - so on my way home I took a new route. To my dismay, I realized 20min later I was going the wrong way. But here's the kicker - I realized I was going the wrong way when I saw a mall I bought my Coach purse from. So I went the wrong way, to find myself at a mall. I must have some internal GPS system mapping out where all the malls are. I didn't go in... I merely exited the highway and turned around. LoL!

I got back home at around 10:00pm Tuesday night after having dinner with Kathy. The next morning, I was headed to Hamtown at 7:30am. So much driving :S

The funeral was a beautiful service full of kind words and carefree stories. It was truely a celebration of his life. I can't even begin to imagine what it feels like to loose a parent. I was so heartbroken when I lost my grandma, but I think this is probably 10x worse. Art and his family will definitely be in my prayers.

My First Ebay Purchase

Time: 10:42pm
Mood: Groggy (just got up! hellooo weekend!)
Song of the moment: The Fray - Look After You

I finally made the leap last week and bought not one, not two but THREE items off Ebay. This was my first time buying off Ebay so I'm a little nervous. I'm still a bit nervous because I havn't received my items yet.

All three items I purchased were for the wedding. I ended up purchasing a crinoline (that poofy thing that you wear under your wedding dress to give your dress more poof), hair pins and a necklace/earring set. The hair pins, necklace and earrings match my shoes (the ones I got for $30! haha). I can't wait 'til I get my items - partially because I'm excited in recieving my first Ebay purchases, but mostly because I'm nervous about purchasing stuff over Ebay. eeks :S

Being Lazy

Time: 8:00pm
Mood: Disgusted (Jimmy's chopping a chicken right now)
Song of the moment: Red Hot Chili Peppers - Snow Hey Oh

Jimmy's been looking up receipes for dinner, and he had decided to buy a whole chicken for our next meal. He has no idea how to chop a chicken. Funny enough, I have some idea, but I'm afraid of sharp objects so that keeps me away from using a cleaver. So if you can picture it, Jimmy's holding the cleaver, I'm yelling instructions out to him. It's like we're already married! LoL!

So Jimmy and I were having a discussion the other day about how our laziness drives us to be innovative. This conversation started when I asked Jimmy what his usual routine was when he got into the office. He usually gets in half an hour before the office opens, and what he does is he goes to each classroom and checks the network connetions to make sure they work. He told me he wrote a program that allows him to check the network connetions without having to go to each classroom. I thought that was smart of him, but he said he did it because he's lazy. I think a lot of modern-day innovations are driven into creation because we, as humans, are lazy by nature. I guess you can argue that they make our lives more efficient and that we can do more with all the time we save by using things like cars, electric stoves and cellphones. But regardless of the amount of time it saves, who wants to walk to the grocery store and have to carry all those groceries back home? Who wants to build a fire in order to boil water? Who wants to run across town to talk to a friend?

I don't. Because I'm lazy :)

A Taste Of Things To Come

Time: 8:38pm
Mood: Happy
Song of the moment: Fatboy Slim - Right Here, Right Now

My parents left for Morocco last night, leaving me behind to take care of the house. Jimmy's planning to stay with me for the next two weeks, so we get to experience how things will be like when we move into our house in 4 months. This is not the first time he's stayed with me for a prolonged peroid of time, so it's not one of those shocking experiences into how your significant other is like when you're around them 24/7 (haha it would be horrible to find out this far into the relationship that the person you will be marrying isn't the type of person you want to live with! LoL!).

My parents have only been gone for about 24hrs and already I've been given a taste of things to come when owning a home. Today Jimmy and I managed to fix a faulty toilet, control a mini-flood in the mud room (the garage water pipe valve is situated in our mud room... I had to turn it on because Jimmy had to hose off my car after we went to visit our lot today, and I forgot to turn it off after he was done. I think the water pressure was too great and it started leaking from the valve in the mud room, thus causing the mini-flood! oops!) and entertain a guest! Jenn came over this afternoon to check out my dress (yes I got it! hooray! Best part is I still absolutely love the dress!!). She ended up staying over for dinner. It was nice to entertain someone in a home that I temporarily own. And it made me realize that this was what it was going to be like when I move into my new home. Make me more excited about it!

Speaking of the home, they got some scaffolding up around our house - which means they're getting ready to brick the house! *yay*!

8.4 Seconds

Time: 6:13pm
Mood: Exhausted (long day @ work)
Song of the moment: Muse - Starlight

... is how long you have to live if you happened to crash through the CN Tower glass floor.

Chris, Cody and I were bored by the end of the day at work. We were chatting away when all of a sudden we came the topic of how long it would take you to fall from the CN Tower glass floor observation deck. We did some high school physics calculations (took us a while because we all forgot what those equations were) and came up with 8.4 seconds.

That's quite some time. A lot can go through your head in 8.4 seconds. We thought it would go something like this:

0-2 seconds - AHH I'm falling
3 seconds - realize the fact that you're going to die
4-6 seconds - think about all your loved ones
7-8 seconds - "Shit did I leave the oven on?"
8-8.4 seconds - "Uh.." *splat*

HAHA the things we think about @ work...

Lack Of Sleep

Time: 10:30pm
Mood: Sleepy.... (food coma)
Song of the moment: Muse - Starlight

First weekend of the new year and I'm lacking sleep. For me, the weekend is a time to sleep in and catch up on sleep. This weekend was not one of those.

Friday night I went to a dinner party at Ellen's house (I got to meet her new baby son Ethan. He's so cute!). Jimmy and I were late because the cops were called to the house across the street from him and they blocked off the street so I couldn't go pick him up. It was crazy... apparently there was 4 cop cars there, and some officers had sniper guns pointed at the house as 3 guys were arrested. Eeks!! After the dinner party, I headed out to meet up with another group of high school friends for bubble tea and ended up going to bed around 1:30am.

8:30am - I heard some gnawing noises coming from my window. I look up and it was that damn squirrel again! AGH!! stupid thing! And I think it's the same one that keeps coming back! I have to find some way to scare that thing shitless! My friend Rob suggested I get one of those devices that emit a certain sound frequency that scares them away, but the way he described it was as if it would make the squirrel's head explode! hahaha just the thought of that makes me laugh (so cruel!). The whole night I just kept thinking about this little squirrel crawling towards my window.. then suddenly the head starts to shake violently, then it explodes! LoL!

Anyway, so Saturday night I head out for dinner and bubble tea with the Taiwan crew because Victor was flying back to Japan the next day, and I didn't end up getting home until 3am. Believe it or not, I went to the same bubble tea shop I went to on Friday night. This morning, at 10am my sister bangs on my door and tells me we're going out for lunch in half an hour to celebrate her birthday. *grr*

Hm.. time to sleep... zzZZzz

Happy New Year!

Time: 10:37pm
Mood: Sleepy...
Song of the moment: Pink - You And Your Hand

Happy New Year people of the blog world :D

I received the first best news of the year! My best friend Rita is engaged!! Her now fiance, Eric, proposed to her at the base of the Eiffel Tower in Paris just before midnight! She called me to tell me the great news (I knew it was going to happen.. Eric had contacted me 3 weeks ago telling me he was going to propose). I am absolutely thrilled for the both of them! Congrats Rita and Eric! *yay*!

My new years came and went without the usual countdown. I spent it with Jimmy, Bashar, Kin and Johny at a bubble tea shop. We didn't exactly know when the new year started, but all the more it was still nice to be celebrating it with friends. Because of the caffeine + sugar content of the bubble tea, I couldn't sleep until 5am...

This morning Jimmy and I woke up around 10am to go dim sum with Char, Sherman, Neilynne, Jay, Steph, Mark, Mike, Cindy and Ron - it was great to start off the year with seeing people I havn't seen in a while! Hopefully I get to see them more often this year :) I then spent the rest of the afternoon putting in the rest of the screws/nails in our new house. I'm glad that over and done with.. my hands were hurting from all that drilling!

*sigh* sucks I have to go to work tomorrow... work ruins everything! LoL!
