Red 'n' Blonde

Time: 8:46pm
Mood: Fidgity
Song of the moment: Kasabian - Club Foot

So I typed out this long blog entry yesterday only to loose it entirely (I had an error loading the page... bloody hell!), and it was already 12:00am.. I wasn't about type it all over again.

I basically wrote what happened to me this weekend. I skipped out on school Friday to go to the Autoshow with my sister Kathy (we both wanted to go, but both our signficiant others did not wish to go w/ us.. so we put two and two together and decided to go together!). So I actually went home on Thursday night, which was good because traffic heading into the T-dot is so much nicer on a Thursday night than Friday night (with good reason). It was good I went home Thursday night, because I got to catch Jimmy in some ball hockey action. His team beat the first place team, so now they're #1 in the standings! Hooray! Afterwards we went to the bar with his hockey buddies for some beer and food :)

Friday Kathy and I headed downtown to the Autoshow at around noon. The first exhibit we saw was the VW exhibit. I still hate the Jetta. Nothing about it impresses me anymore. So I set out to find my next car-obsession, and I found it. The Audi A4. I admit, I liked this car before, but now I love it even more. The new A4 was just beautiful! So that's my future car guys (I've decided! haha). Or maybe an Acura TL (I know.. me liking a Japanese car? wtf is going on here? did hell freeze over?). I still gots time to decide :) Kathy and I got to check out the GM Ice Maze, which was cold but very fun! The name of the game that day was to find the biggest pick-up truck possible and sit in it. Kathy had me sitting in these MASSIVE Ford pick-up trucks. I must admit, they're really nice inside but man.. a BEAST on the outside. If one hit me, I would probably die instantly :S

Saturday rolled around and I managed to get Jimmy's mom to cut and highlight my hair :D Red and blonde (see picture below). I was getting bored with my hair.. what better way to come out of that bordem than to dye it some kewls colour! I must admit, I really dig it, even though Rita says I look like a 16 year old (dammit!)

The New Jetta

Time: 10:06pm
Mood: Angry *grr* .. and sad
Song of the Moment: Sum41 - Pieces

Today was just.. well to sum it all up, it was "AGH!!". I felt like that all day. My day started with me waking up and just freaking because I realized I did one of my experiments wrong, and I have meeting with my supervisor tomorrow and I don't want to show him I've done nothing all week. I was distracted all last week and did one really stupid mistake. When I got to school, I thankfully realized that I didn't have to prepare the samples again (that woulda taken me a long time!) so I was able to finish it today. I also had a meeting with this guy from the science department because I wanted to use his machine for an experiment. The thing is, I've been trying to get in touch with this guy for 3 weeks. I sent him emails, I even called him and I got no response. Finally yesterday, I emailed him a very frustrated letter, telling him I really needed these experiments done. He finally emails me and we set up a meeting for today at 1pm. *flashback - I met with him a month ago to check out the equipment and he pretty much yelled at me for being 2 minutes late*. I arrived at his office at 12:58. I knocked on his door.. no response. I waited for 7 minutes outside his office.. he never showed. I was pissed. I went back to my office, called him and left him a semi-stern phone message. I even emailed him. Wow.. complete disregard for my time and my work! It's not as if I showed up at his office out of the blue.. I had set up an appointment. I even told him he could set up the meeting when it was convenient for him. To me, this is really unprofessional. I'm so frustrated with that guy.. and a few other people in the science department... but I'm not going to get into that.

So I was talking to Sean over MSN today and he told me he went to the Autoshow. I'm planning to go with Kathy this weekend so I asked him about it. I told him I went 2 years ago, and I was such a retard because I completely missed a whole section of the exhibition. When I went, I couldn't find the VW display, but I later found out it was in the section I overlooked. Then Sean asked me if I like the new Jetta. I was like.. wha? come again? New Jetta? So I went to the VW website and .....

I hate it. I hate the new Jetta. I can't believe I'm saying this. I thought there would never be a day when I would say I hate the Jetta. But I do. I looks HORRIBLE! I'm absolutely crushed. The grill at the front.. looks more like a shield, and quite frankly only look half decent if you get it in the platinum silver. The back lights have a circle pattern... I hate circles! It looks like a Corolla :( Oh why VW WHY?!?! I knew this was going to happen... I knew they would change the way it looks once I got close to buying a Jetta. *sigh* Maybe I'll like it when I see it in real life.. I donno. But I just saw it on TV and I still hate it. Oh.. my Jetta.. what have they done to you? I'm heartbroken :(

Meet The Parents

Time: 11:26pm
Mood: Tired
Song of the moment: Sum41 - Pieces

I wasn't supposed to go home this weekend, but because of the recent engagement, I decided to go home. Ok it wasn't entirely because of the engagement (although I did want to show my parents the ring!). Jimmy's birthday was last Tuesday, and even though I already celebrated his birthday with him, I thought it would be nice to celebrate with friends.

Friday night I went to see Constantine. I was a bit hesitant at first because it looked kinda freaky and I'm not too fond of scary movies. There were parts where I was a little freaked but overall it was a really good movie! And of course.. Keanu Reeves was a plus (just kiddin!!). Saturday night, a bunch of us (Jimmy, Flo, Kin, Jenn, Joyce, Mich, Cat and I) went out for some Korean BBQ to celebrate Jimmy's 26th. I broke the news to Jenn, Joyce, Mich and Cat :D It was hilarous because I wasn't sure how I should break the news to them.. Flo suggested that I talk with my hands so they'll see my ring, but I tried doing that and I kept moving the wrong hand! haha! After some good grub some of us headed to Mich's place for some poker action.

Today I headed over to Pacific Mall to get my ring resized. Oh man I hate that place! This is why I try to stay away from there unless there's a definite reason to go. My main problem there besides the large mass of chinese people is finding parking at the stupid mall. It's close to impossible! I thought it would be better because Jimmy was driving, but I still got really mad. I had to get out of the car. Once in the mall, I began to look for the jewlery store where he bought my ring. I finally found it, but I decided to wait for him because I thought they would probably recognize him. I stood outside the store for 5 minutes and I finally decided to go in, hoping they would recognize Jimmy's name at least. So I walked in, approached the two ladies working there and told them I was here to get my ring resized, and that my fiance (ahh I still have to get used to calling him that) had bought the ring from there. Then they said "Oh... it was Jimmy right?" haha! While I was seeing what size my finger was, the lady working there kept saying "Oh he's a good man.. he's a good man" hahah! So now I'm getting my ring resized.. I won't have it until Friday.. I feel naked w/o my ring.. :S

So the big thing for this weekend was, Jimmy's parents and my parents met for the first time. Ok not really for the first time.. his mom has met both my parents, but they spoke briefly (Jimmy's mom met my dad when he was picking my sister up from his house after getting her hair dyed some funky colour.. his mom is a hairdresser, and she met my mom when I was picking Jimmy up for something... she thought my mom was one of my friends! hahah). I was a little nervous.. mainly afraid of any awkward silences that might occur. Those are the worst!

Jimmy and I arrived there late, which is very bad because our parents don't know each other well. The thing is, before we left for the restaurant Jimmy and I agreed to pay for the dinner, so we needed to stop by the bank to get some $$. Eeks! But it was ok.. they found each other fine (and we were the only ones at the restaurant at the time.. haha). The evening went really really well! I had no idea Jimmy's dad was so talkative and funny! haha! So a big sigh of relief :D

View from Marriot Fallsview Hotel

Niagara Falls

Time: 10:40pm
Mood: On Cloud #9
Song of the moment: Pixies - Here Comes Your Man

So for St. Valentines Day, Jimmy decided he would whisk me away to Niagara Falls for 2 days as his gift. We arrived in Niagara Falls around 12:30pm, just in time for lunch, except I got really hungry before we left and I managed to devour 6 chicken nuggets and a whackload of fries from McDonalds. So I wasn't quite hungry. So what did we do? We hit the Fallsview Casino for some nickle-slot action (cuz I'm cheap that way). I always have so much fun playing slots, even though I end up loosing the $5 I pop in. But I find that when I play with someone by my side, I make a whole spectacle out of it... like it's the Price is Right (commmoooon down!). I tend to get a bit over excited when I get one of those bonus rounds where u choose something and you get extra credits for it. I think Jimmy found watching me more entertaining than playing the slots themselves! haha! Around 3:30 we checked into our room.. @ the Marriot. It was a fallsview room and it was AWESOME! We had this jacuzzi tub and a fabulous view of the falls. It was great! We chilled for a bit, mainly sitting by the window to enjoy the wonderful view we had, then we headed out for more casino excitement.

We had dinner at the fallsview Keg that night. It was by far the best Keg I've been to. The view was excellent, the service was excellent.. I had an excellent time! haha! Afterwards, we decided to head back to the hotel and catch the falls light show (where they shine different colour lights at the falls to make it look all purdy) from our window. Then....

I was sitting down in this armchair, watching the falls change colour when Jimmy told me he had a surprise for me. I was like.. oooOOooo another surprise! He told me to close my eyes. He held my hand and told me to open my eyes. I open them to see him, and he was down on one knee. And that's when he proposed to me, in our wonderful hotel room overlooking the white-lit falls. He presented to me the most gorgeous ring I've ever seen. The whole moment was just beautiful! *if you're all wondering.. I said YES! haha*.

So guys.. Jimmy and I are engaged! I've told a few people so far.. I'm slowly getting around to telling people, so if you read it here first before I tell you.. sorry I didn't get around to telling you yet (I'm trying to make telling people more personal... trying to call ppl or talking to them over MSN...). It's been a crazy few days, just telling people and sharing in the excitement I'm experiencing right now.

No date is set.. actually nothing is set yet. It all just happened! I can't even begin to express the happiness I feel.. everything just.. feels complete.

For those who are wondering... we beat the bank.. by 70 cents *yes* :D

The Worst Promise

Time: 10:48
Mood: Burnt out!
Song of the moment: The Used - All That I've Got

There was a catch to buying those boots last friday that I had forgot to mention because it pains me to think about it. Jimmy has made me promise that I would not shop for 3 months (including this month). 79 more days... 1896 more hours... OMG what was I thinking?! Obviously I was not! Shoes.. look what they do to me! Jimmy says it'll do me good.. HA! He's on the receiving end of my constant complaints and whines.. he just made more work for himself (suckerrrrr!). I guess I can have the last laugh that way :D

Anyway, so we all know what happens to us when we can't do something.. we want to do it more! It's just human nature. I've been finding myself doing some online "window" shopping. (*side note* so wait.. Jimmy didn't mention specifically I couldn't do online shopping right? yeah yeah.. I know... *sigh*). The list of things I want keeps growing.. I swear by May I'm going to be a shopping monster! I know one thing I'm going to get.. I'm gonna get myself a Chinese Laundry purse. OOoooh they're so damn cute! 79 more days....

You know, I might as well give up shopping for Lent. Officially I've given up drinking tea. Shit I'm bloody nuts... shopping AND tea?

79 more days.....

The Boots/Tundra

Time: 1:04 pm
Mood: Cheerful (it's sunny outside!)
Song of the moment: U2 - Vertigo (it's playing on Much Music right now)

Wednesday I went shopping with Marta and Laura @ Limeridge Mall. Laura was in a total shopping mood (this was her first shopping trip in a long time.. and you could totally tell cuz she went on a spending spree!), and Marta & I were just there to tag along.. and do a bit of shopping ourselves. I had gone shopping last Sunday with Jimmy so I wasn't expecting to buy anything, but history as taught you (and myself), whenever I don't entend to do something, I end up doing excessively. The first store we went to was Bata, and as you all know, I have a major weakness when it comes to shoes. I actually bought a pair on Sunday (fun casual running shoes). I had been to Bata on Sunday and saw these black boots, tried on one boot but didn't think much of them. When I walked into the store, I showed the gals the boots and they liked them, so I tried on one boot again and eh.. I kinda liked them. So I thought I should walk around the mall and think about it (I need new black boots! ok I don't NEED them, but I need them). We continued to walk around the mall and shop (I ended up buying this scarf you tie around your waist, and a hat. yeah I know.. a hat! but it was cute.. and only $10!) and right near closing I decided to go back and try on those boots again. Laura went off to Sears to buy socks, while Marta and I went back to Bata. I tried them both on (not just one this time) and I loved them! But I noticed there was a dent on one of the boots, and they were the last pair of 7s the store was carrying. AGH! So I got the boots' item number and decided I would call the Bata's in Toronto and see if they had the same boots.

The next day, I called around to see if other Bata's had this boot. I called Fairview, Town Center.. even Yorkdale, and I got the same response from each store: Sorry, we don't have them. Actually the one @ Fairview mall said they have never carried that model. I was so sad after that. But then I decided I would go check out the stores on the weekend because I honestly had no faith in these Bata salespeople. Friday night, before I headed downtown to meet Jimmy for dinner, I popped by the Bata @ Fairview and *gasp* my boots! I found my boots! And the had one pair of 7s left :) So now I have the boots I had to have :) Hooray me!

Anyway, so after I got my wonderful boots, I headed downtown to meet Jimmy for dinner at Tundra. Tundra was part of Winterlicious, an event in Toronto that lasts approximately 2 weeks where some of Toronto's finest restaurants offer $20 lunch menus or $20-30 dinner menus. It gives a chance for not so rich people like me to try these high-end restaurants. The food there was excellent! One of the best Winterlicious/Summerlicious restaurants I've been to. I really enjoyed the food, the environment and the service. They had this sun-dried tomato bread spread that was to die for. It was kewls because we bumped into Harrison, a friend of ours. Him and his friends were sitting at the table right beside us (what a small world!). When Jimmy got there (he arrived before me) he was talking to the lobby receptionist (the restaurnt is located in the Hilton) and she told him that the food was great, and that he would definitely be back. I'm telling you, she's absolutely right! I would definitely go back!
