The Dirtiest Thing In A Hotel Room

Time: 11:08pm
Mood: Sleepy
Song of the moment: Darren Hayes - Lucky Town

Another day, another week in Detroit. Seems like these weekly trips to D-town is going to be never ending. I just wish I could stay home for a full week.. just once!

I've spend the entire night in my hotel room. The moment I got off work, I headed straight to my hotel room and ordered room service. Room service always tastes better when you're not paying for it :D Actually, everything is more enjoyable when you're not paying for it! LoL! So because I've been in my room all night, I've had a lot of time to think. I think I've pin-pointed the dirtiest thing in the hotel room. Not the floor (b/c I'm guessing that gets cleaned/vacuumed every so often), or the bathroom walls (those get cleaned too). I realized the one thing that everyone uses that probably never gets cleaned is... drumroll..... the tv remote control! Honestly, when is the last time you've cleaned your remote? God knows what people have touched before touching the remote.. *shiver*

After realizing this, I quickly wraped the remote in a towel.

So gross!!

More Wasabi Please

Time: 9:39pm
Mood: Tired
Song of the moment: Foo Fighters - The Pretender

Here I am again, in Detroit. The fun never ends. I already want to go home! This is surely an indication this is going to be a long week.

So I went out with my co-workers for dinner tonight - felt like Japanese so we headed to Benihanas. Not the best Japanese food but it satisfied the craving. As I was eating the mediocore sushi I realized I eat my sushi with a lot of wasabi. Well, a lot more wasabi than I used to eat it with. And it made me realize how much I've changed. It's funny how sometimes you think you havn't change, that you're the same person as you were a few years ago. In most cases, these minor changes in our live goes unnoticed. But they do add up.

Despite all these changes, I also realize my principles have remained the same. And I see this through the friends that I've kept in touch with. Most of my closest friends that I hang out with on a semi-regular basis are all from highschool. Heck, the love of my life is one of my highschool friends. We usually stick with friends that have similar morals and principles - it's who we get along with best. The fact that I still have friends from my childhood speaks volumes.

Makes me feel that even though we are getting older, even though we've been somewhat jaded by our experiences in life, we still have that spark we all had in highschool. And to not lose that - that's the true gift of youth.

I hope I feel this way forever :)

Excuse Me, What Do You Think You're Doing?

Time: 4:30pm
Mood: Relaxed
Song of the moment: Darren Hayes - Happy Town

I've spent this entire Saturday at home. Not that I'm complaining. I was supposed to go to Diana's convo today in Waterloo, but we were notified last night we were getting our bedroom furniture delivered (did I mention we bought a bedroom set? LoL). So I decided to stay back and wait.

After the delivery guys came, I thought I would get some housewife-like chores out of the way. Suddenly my doorbell rings. Reluctantly, I opened the door, knowing fully well it was a salesperson that was most likely going to be selling me something. And sure enough it was. Some guy was at the door trying to sell me a hydro/gas flat rate. Wow, you know you're a home owner when... LoL. So anyway, I told him I already signed up for a flat rate, and I was not interested. But he wanted me to prove that I already had one and asked if he could see my bill. So to humor him, I grabbed an old bill and showed it to him. He told me there was no indication on my bill that I was on a flat rate, yadda yadda yadda.. then he whips out this form and starts to "sign me up". Woah.... hold on there buddy! So I ask him "Excuse me... what do you think you're doing? Are you signing me up without my consent?" Just because my bill does not show a fixed rate, doesn't mean I'm interested. Then he tries to pull his sales pitch one me, but I'm a smart cookie and I'm not buying it. It just sounded like I was going to end up paying more in the long run. I finally managed to get rid of him, I quickly run upstairs and found my fixed-rate contract I had signed up for when I first moved in. That retard was offering me a higher fixed rate than what I had originally signed up for, AND he was going to just sign me up!

I hate pushy sales people :P If they're pushy, it means it's not a good deal.

A Relaxing Night In

Time: 7:41pm
Mood: Happy (and tired)
Song of the moment: Darren Hayes - The Only One

Finally, a night of nothingness - exactly what I needed! Here I am, sitting at home in front of the tv, our faux fireplace is lit up, my legs propped up on my new coffee table (we bought them a month ago.... they finally came in!) and watching the Leaf's game with my hubby. This is definitely nice :D Domestic bliss! This is one of the rare opportunities I get to do this. I've been travelling to Detroit almost every week. The travelling is definitely taking it's toll on me. All the errands I would have run over the week, I have to do them all during the weekend, so my weekends are pretty busy. My friend Jenn recently told me that currently I was the busiest person she knows. :/ that doesn't sound good. It doesn't help I also took a tutoring job on Saturdays, leaving me less time to do everything. I've hardly had time to go shopping for furniture. I managed to squeeze in the furniture shopping last Sunday and we bought a new dining room table! *yay* I can't wait til it comes in - our house is looking more like a home every day :)
Last weekend was the Thanksgiving long weekend, so the timecard was filled with family dinners. Jimmy and I got to celebrate our first Thanksgiving together in a hospital. Yup you heard me.. in a hospital. Right before we went furniture shopping on Sunday, we stopped for a quick bite at a McDonalds. I had a chicken burger, and he had a quarter pounder. This was the only thing we ate different that day. Right after dinner, I began getting sharp stomach pains... and it got worse as the night progressed. I've never thrown up so much before in my life, I couldn't even hold down water! It was horrible! So around midnight Jimmy decides to take me to the hospital. We waited....and waited... and waited.. around 5:30am I finally get to see a doctor, and she tells me to take Gravol. *grrr* you mean I wanted 5 1/2 hours so some doctor could tell me to take Gravol?!?! And by that time I was already feeling better. I wasn't impressed. And now I'm completely turned off by eating McD's.. won't be eating that for a while!
Ok this is definitely long overdue: here are just a few pics from the wedding & from the honeymoon:

It's Been A While...

Time: 11:36pm
Mood: Sicky
Song of the moment: for once I don't have one! *shock*

It's been a while since I last updated this blog. I'm not sure why.. possibly because I'm lazy? Or I just had too much to do. Believe it or not, I was actually really busy after the wedding. It was non-stop for me. The moment I got back from my honeymoon (don't worry, I'll get to that!), I started work. The weekend after I got back was Rita's wedding (again, get to that in a minute...), then the following monday I was whisked away to Detroit for work. Last weekend was the first weekend I got to do absolutely nothing - and it felt great!!

So the honeymoon! NZ was awesome! It was winter, and it was a bit rainy, but Jimmy and I had a lot of fun. Driving on the other side of the road was definitely different! I can't count the number of times Jimmy yelled "hug the right side!!!" haha! We did some hiking, some chilling and some zorbing! We decided to go together and it was hilarous! We did the hydro-zorb - that's where they put warm water into the ball w/ you, so you end up sloshing down in this ball filled with water. I ended up just sitting in the pool of water all the way down :S Jimmy tried to get up, but because I was at the bottom, he ended up tripping on me and kneeing me in the chest! haha! But the best thing we did on the trip was skydiving. Yes.. skydiving! We were in Taupo, deemed the skydiving capital of the world because of the large number of people that go skydiving at that location annually. We did a tandum skydive, where we jumped with an experienced jumper. It's strange.. I told myself I would never skydive, but I knew if I didn't go, Jimmy wouldn't go, and I knew Jimmy really wanted to go. So, to show him how much I loved him, I faced my fear and decided to jump. We jumped from 12,000 ft, which meant 45 seconds of free fall. Let me tell you - it was the most amazing feeling ever! The first two seconds I felt my stomach flop like it's never flopped before. It was like riding a roller coaster, but 10x worse! After that, all you feel is the cold wind on your face. Floating down was amazing! The sun was just setting, and the ariel view of Lake Taupo was spectacular. I was talking to my skydive partner, and he told me out of all the places he's skydived before (and it's a long list!), he said the best place was Taupo. Now would I do this again? hell no! I survived once - that's good enough!

Rita's wedding was great! It took place at a B&B in Coboconk, a town 1 1/2h northeast of Toronto. It was the perfect setting - the wedding ceremeony took place overlooking a lake. Rita walked down an aisle of rose petals. And the weather was nice and sunny... it was such a great day! It was good.. the wedding party + significant others got to stay in the cottages beside the inn (I got to stay in the Inn on the second night), so we all got to bond before and after the ceremony. That night after the BBQ reception, we all gathered for a small little firework show (courtesy of moi! hehe) and a bonfire. I got kinda tipsy that night - I blame Kathy's bf Charles for challenging me to a chugging contest! LoL! I remember giving my little cousin love advice! haha!

I better sleep... I'm in Detroit right now.. gotta wake up early for work. Thank God I'm going home to my hubby tomorrow :D I still gotta post photos huh? I will do that when I get home :D

Can you believe Jimmy and I have been married for a month now? wow!
